Tom’s Goals:
Because Girl Scouts is and was an influence in the lives of
his daughters, Tom wants to give back to the Girl Scouts some of what Girl
Scouts has given to him and his family. Two important areas he thinks are
important for the new council are 1) the need to assure that the significant
geographical challenges do not unreasonably hinder the delivery of services
and that members and volunteers feel they are a part of the new Council and
that their efforts and input are appreciated and respected; and 2) the need
to make appropriate decisions about properties owned or leased by the new
Council since properties support the Council’s mission. There needs to be a
clear plan for making and funding improvements.

The most important goals for Arlys and for the GSMW are for
the council to attain the mission statement goals. Arlys believes that Girl
Scouting has wonderful programs that can truly help girls grow in courage,
confidence, and character and make the world a better place. The new council
must not become mired in the organizational aspects of merging and forget
about girls. Membership growth is important because there are girls who need
Girl Scouts. The Council needs to remain financially sound and be an
organization that values our volunteers and staff and celebrates the world
of Girl Scouting. The Council needs to value our individual council
histories and to move forward as one council.
